Bents Basin State Conservation Area
Area: 48 hectares
Bents Basin is a deep waterhole in the Gulguer Gorge of the Nepean River, 25 km south of Penrith. Swimming, canoeing, picnicking and camping (bookings required: 02 4774 8662). Access is through Wallacia, via Greendale Road and Wolstenhome Avenue. Park entry and camping fees apply. Gates closed at night.
Fairlight Gorge(Blue Mountains National Park)
Glenbrook section(Blue Mountains National Park)
From the single entry point off Bruce Road in Glenbrook, this section of Blue Mountains National Park offers excellent car and bike touring, picnic areas, a camping area, swimming, lookouts and many walking tracks.
Yellomundee Regional Park
Area: 485 hectares
Reached off Hawkesbury Road, north of Springwood, Yellomundee Regional Park protects part of the Blue Mountains escarpment falling to the banks of the Nepean River north of Penrith. It was named after a Dharug 'clever man' of the early colonial period. Hawkesbury Lookout (on Hawkesbury Road, Hawkesbury Heights) and Yellow Rock Lookout (at the end of Yellow Rock Road, Winmalee) provide picnic facilities and views over the Nepean River and plains of western Sydney.
